We are Eric, Sharon, and Remco - an IT professional, a budding artist, and an avid gamer, but above all, a travel junkie, adventure-loving family from Aotearoa/New Zealand.

Back in 2016, we jumped at the chance to work for one of the world’s best airlines in Dubai, fulfilling a long-standing dream of living in the Middle East and soaking up everything this amazing desert city has to offer. And the best part? The opportunity to visit incredible parts of the world that are a little too tricky to reach from the deepest south of the Pacific. Our planned two years came and went, then another, and another, and before we knew it, eight wonderful years of fun, friendship, and travel has passed… and now home is calling…

But… we’re not leaving this magnificent part of the world without one last very epic adventure… to overland the Silk Road!

Our original plan was to backpack the Silk Road all the way home - across the steppes and ancient merchant cities of Central Asia, traverse the wild expanse of western China, across Southeast Asia, down through the Malay Peninsula, and on to Singapore. However, someone developed such a strong passion for off-roading during our time in the Sandpit that our plan soon evolved from walking, to driving the Silk Road…
